Important announcement from our Director of Operations regarding COVID-19
With increased concern around COVID-19, our goal is to ensure that our clients and their families understand our foremost principles and priorities and how we are continuing to keep our clients and our caregivers safe.
Our priority during this pandemic and, more importantly every day, is to make sure our clients and employees stay safe. Nothing has changed in this regard; this has always been our focus!
As a health care organization, we have astringent Infection and Control Practices (IPAC) and we use them every day. For all ExcellCare caregivers, the basics, like proper hygiene, self and client screening and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is how we do our work every day. While not new, but it is now more important than ever.
As time progresses we understand the COVID-19 virus has and is going to continue to bring challenges to Canadians and the health care sector. While media coverage is just starting to ramp up, ExcellCare started COVID-19 impact planning earlier this year. Our team of Clinical, Health and Safety, HR consultants, IT and Operational specialists have worked on our company-wide response plan. This plan includes:
- Pandemic planning: We do this by making sure we have the right people, right processes and systems in place to safely provide and sustain our work.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supply: We strive to ensure we have enough PPE supply (masks, gowns, gloves, sanitizer, etc.) and a solid process to prioritize when we use this equipment for essential care delivery
- IPAC education: Ongoing review makes sure everyone is current on best practices to protect against and equally important to stop the spread of this virus and keep up to date information.
- Employee and client communication:Our caregivers and clients have the information they need to keep up to date and stay safe.
While we cannot predict what this virus will do in the coming weeks and months, we are very confident that we are doing the right things and following best practices from The Public Health Agency of Canada to keep our clients and caregivers safe.
We continue to be incredibly inspired by the commitment and amazing work, our caregivers do every day and the trust and confidence our clients have in our care provision. Thank you to everyone involved with ExcellCare and in the meantime be well!
Cheers,
Kelley D. Stewart
